About usWe are working with a leading engineering organisation seeking a skilled Electrical Technician with strong experience in Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear systems.In this role, you will be responsible for testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of MV equipment both in a workshop environment and on-site.This position is ideal for someone who is hands-on, detail-oriented, and safety-focused, with flexibility to travel when required.TasksKey Responsibilities• Carry out electrical testing of MV switchgear, including:Dielectric testingMechanical testingLeak testingContact resistance measurementsPrimary & secondary injectionRelay testingPartial discharge diagnostics• Perform commissioning, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on MV switchgear and protection systems• Diagnose and resolve faults within MV electrical systems• Ensure full compliance with safety standards and industry regulations• Prepare detailed test and service reports• Provide on-site technical support during installation and system integration• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve system performance and reliabilityProfile• Completed technical training or degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or similar• Proven experience working with MV or HV systems (10kV+) – ideally switchgear, but also open to transformers, motors, or coils• Hands-on experience with testing and commissioning of MV switchgear is highly desirable• Familiarity with testing equipment such as OMICRON, Megger, or similar• Knowledge of protection systems (relays, CTs, PTs, circuit breakers, interlocks) is beneficial• Good English skills (German is a plus, not essential)• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding ability• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics• Valid EU work authorisation• Willingness to travel (approx. up to 15%, domestic & international)We offer• Opportunity to work on technically advanced MV systems• International exposure through project-based travel• Stable, long-term position within a growing engineering environment• Collaborative and supportive team culture
